Fire and Fairgrounds

Acrylics and oils on board. 2'x2'. I have been doing a lot of abstract work recently. For this piece, I had an urge to put red paint onto the board and I let the paint do its magic as I worked. Images of recent fires in Europe came to mind and the tracks connecting the images reminded me of the switchback fairground railway at Barry Island fairground, a childhood memory and a place I had recently visited with my sister for the first time in 50 years.
